Plotter: Operationalizing the Master Book of All Plots

چکیده
Pulp fiction author William Wallace Cook published Plotto: The Master Book of All Plots in 1928, which contains almost 2000 plot fragments and relatively formal instructions on how human authors could combine them to produce plots behind novels. In this paper we show one way that the methods in this book can be used to computationally generate plots from the fragments. We also show sample plots generated by our system called Plotter that uses this method. Finally we use them to discuss idiosyncrasies and limitations of the book.

متن کاملThe Exoplanet Orbit Database
We present a database of well determined orbital parameters of exoplanets, and their host stars’ properties. This database comprises spectroscopic orbital elements measured for 427 planets orbiting 363 stars from radial velocity and transit measurements as reported in the literature. We have also compiled fundamental transit parameters, stellar parameters, and the method used for the planets di...
متن کاملViewPoint and ViewDist: utilities for rapid graphing of linkage distributions and identification of outliers.
ViewPoint and ViewDist are stand alone Java utilities designed to provide an interactive visual representation of data from files which may be created by the user or produced directly from analyses packages such as Mx. ViewPoint is designed for representation of linkage results and can be used for summarizing multiple univariate linkage results or providing detailed comparison of univariate and...
متن کاملGenome analysis J-Circos: an interactive Circos plotter
Summary: Circos plots are graphical outputs that display three dimensional chromosomal interactions and fusion transcripts. However, the Circos plot tool is not an interactive visualization tool, but rather a figure generator. For example, it does not enable data to be added dynamically nor does it provide information for specific data points interactively. Recently, an R-based Circos tool (RCi...
متن کاملTowards a “Leonardo da Vinci approach” of GIS for Spatial Design
At the very beginning of the 1990s, a student happened to use a pen in a pen plotter that was smaller than the required size to fit the holder, which produced squiggle line drawings very similar to hand-generated plots. Taking advantage of this “accidental” discovery, and so as to establish the impact of this “technique,” Van Bakergem and Obata decided to voluntarily use this particular process...
